Later school start times could lead to better grades, better health

“There have actually have been studies shown that kids that have a later start time actually perform better in school and on standardized tests and have better long-term outcomes than those that need to wake up earlier,” Dr. [James] Hahn [of St. Elizabeth Healthcare] said.

What’s more is that a report from the Centers for Disease Control says it’s not just academics that are suffering because high school kids don’t get enough sleep, but kids’ health too. Lack of sleep has now been linked to being overweight and to teen smoking and alcohol use.”
